Consultants in the Bay Area are doing well despite the current economic downturn, according to a survey released Monday by Women in Consulting, a professional association.

Of the 200 local consultants surveyed, 70 percent saw revenues increase between 2007 and 2008, and 60 percent expect revenues to increase in the coming year.

And the average revenue of consultants in the survey was estimated at a hefty $200,000 in 2008, up from $104,000 in 2002.

"Despite, or perhaps because of, increasing economic uncertainty, demand for consultants remains strong in the Bay Area," said Women in Consulting President Linda Popky.
